Acrylic Thickness

Looking at a 72 x 30 x 27 acrylic tank with top perimeter and cross-bracing. They are using 1/2" thickness. Will this be enough to prevent bowing and will it be strong enough? The brand is Tsunami. Is anyone have one of their tanks?

I'm not an acrylic expert, but I'm familiar with the builder and have limited experience working with acrylic. I think you're going to get a significant bow at 72x27. That just too much area to keep the panel flat. I could be wrong, but I would look for a different builder if that's what they're recommending. My guess is the common consensus will be a minimum 3/4" maybe even 1".

I agree. 3/4" at the very minimum to avoid deflection. 1" front, back and top with 3/4" sides would last a lifetime though.

I build all the time and 3/4 is what I'd recommend
