actinic bulb question

witch would be a better option of choice
420 actinic bulbs
460 actinic bulbs
or tear out all the actinic fixtures and replace with led's of the better corresponding values.

my fixture has 3 mh bulbs (new) at 20k and 4- 96 watt actinic bulbs that need replacing.

i may have asked this question before in another context, i got a few replys to change from square pin to the flat 4 pin either way im not sure witch is the better look or better function. i think that the 460 is the better choice so im asking you all for a recommendation.

460 = blue
420 = purple

Both is best. Get the dual actinic pc bulbs.

Personally, I like the 460nm blue bulbs better. I think they bring out more color myself. My frogspawns tend to brown out a bit under the 420nm while they show better under the 460nm

Its just my opinion but having used both, I tend to like the 460nm.

Given that you have 4 - 96 watt bulbs, they likely are on two separate controls. In that case, its not a bad idea to get two 460nm blue and two 420nm blue. That will give you more flexibility and two different looks to the aquarium from your pc bulbs as opposed to just one.
