ADA cube garden 75-P

Here's a pic of the overflow and return. The overflow is a LifeReef slimline that Jeff sized down the inner box to 4 inches wide for me. The return is just Sch 80 3/4 inch with a locline flare.

Here are a few shots of what's inside the stand. The sump is a Mr Aqua 11 gallon tank, no baffles. The overflow goes into a CPR 4 inch sock holder. Bubble Magus NAC6 skimmer, no microbubbles get back into the display. Return pump is an Eheim 1260. There's a Ranco dual stage temp controller. There's a 2.5 gallon tank on the left for ATO H2O. On the far left I'm going to get a little stand to put a doser and 2 part bottles.

Ah, awesome now that gives me a better idea how everything is set up. By the way how often do you need to refill that little reservoir over there? I'm also debating whether I or not I should get something small like that to use for a auto topoff.

How long did it take for you to skim that much and what live stock do you have now?
One last thing how does the skimmer compare up to the elso one?

That little 2.5 gallon reservoir gets filled about every 2 days. I'm thinking about getting something a little bigger, taller with a smaller footprint. The ATO helps a lot with the skimmers performance.

Took a couple days to skim that much.
Still not much in the way of livestock. Hermit crabs are doing a good job tackling the algae.
I think it's too early to tell how the skimmer is going to perform long term. I like it better than the Elos, maybe because it's new to me and novel. The Elos did an OK job. I was running the Elos NS500 with an Eheim 1262, certainly sucked up more power than the Atman pump on the BM.

Thanks all for the kind words!

Tommy come by anytime.

I like the BM skimmer alot so far. It's only been running well for a couple weeks though. I've got it set where it's making some nice skimmate and I haven't had to mess with it on a constant basis. It's the first meshwheel skimmer I've run so it'll be interesting to see if I have the same impression in a few months.

Sock does look dirty in the pic. It's 100 micron. I do change it out once in a while. Usually when the water starts bubbling out and over the top.

I've gotten a bunch of PMs about the light rack and what to buy, etc. Instead of PMing everyone individually I thought it'd be easier to post here. I'm not an engineer so if you're using rather long pieces of tubing you may want to consult one. I don't know how rigid this stuff is but since some people use it to make stands for their tank I think it's gotta be pretty strong. It's actually pretty simple to use and put together. You can find a company website that will sell direct. You can also find companies that will help engineer it for you. I went to a company that sells some of their overstock, scraps on ebay. The hardest part was figuring out what to order. I used 15 series (1.5 inch square) 8020 T-slot aluminum framing. You can figure out what lengths you need and order them cut to size. I found them on ebay from 80/20 Inc garage sale in the length I needed. Once you figure out what size tubing you're going to use it gets easier to find stuff since fasteners, joining plates, accessories all fall under that same series of tubing. For fasteners I used the economy T-nuts and screws that I found packaged together, again on ebay. To fasten the 2 tubing pieces together I used a 4 hole inside corner gusset bracket. To attach the rack to the stand I used aluminum corner brackets. For the end of the tubing that is exposed I used an end cap, it's plastic and has a push in plastic fastener to keep it in place. To mount the gripper hanging wires for the fixture to the rack I got a screw, 5mm I think it was, and just screwed the gripper onto the screw and the head of the screw slid right into the slot.

I was just teasing, I run 200 microns and change every 2-3 days and when
the outside is tan colored.. I didn't know you could go on for that long with 100 microns.

I thought you were but it's funny you metioned it because that one had been in there for only a couple weeks and water was bubbling out the top. Every 2-3 days when they're a little tan, do you wash them in bleach?

I flip it inside out wash off the stuff, then it goes into a bucket wait for 9 of them then I plan to soak them in bleach and rinse it really well, so far I havn't collected enough dirty socks yet for a load.

Daniel,

Here are a few pics of how the T-slot tubing goes together. It's pretty simple, the T-nut goes into the slot, screw in the stud and it tightens everything up.

HTH,

Nice tank Ben! That light rail looks really sturdy. Im looking for something similar to that for a hanging canopy on my next build.

T-slot tubing is from 80/20 Inc garage sale on eBay. There are some cleaner looking corner gussets I've run across, should've searched a little more.

Thanks Rommel, you'll have to come by and check it out.
