What do you know?! As I fed the tank this morning, I saw a brief flash of purple. It was my MIA orchid dotty. So he must be eating something.

As for your question, the three minutes he was in the tank before he ran for the hills, my perc clown got a little chesty with him. I also have a mystery wrasse, a candy-striped hogfish, and a flame hawk. My midas blenny and green chromis are pretty low-key. My hope is he's just getting used to the tank and will venture out more as time goes on.

Orchids seem to behave just like Royal Grammas from all the accounts I've read. And therefore will vary from fish to fish and can change over time. My gramma started off peaceful, out and about, then as I added some other (very peaceful and small) fish, he hid more and more, and I barely ever saw him for months. Now he comes out of his cave all the time, only briefly, but very frequently. However, he has become a cranky bastard and thinks everyone is out to get him even though not one fish ever even looks in his direction. Attacked my clown once for no reason.
