Added a little puffer to my tank (video)

Awe...what if he had a mom or dad or child :( poor thing. I prefer captive bread and prefer to leave wild species exactly where they are. but to each there own. Looks cool

I cant get the video to load but is that plankton in the thumbnail? I just posted a thread asking if mine was too many and yours looks just as dense

I'm sure it had a mother and a father but I don't believe they do too much parenting after the hatching. They are literally floating a long down the river lol. Chances are it will have a much longer run in the world in my tank than under the constant threat of predation. But yeah I understand why you're saying. I did take its "freedom"

Not all fish come captive bred. Putting captive bred fish into glass containers with noisy pumps and all sorts of chemicals and unnatural amounts of ammonia, nitrates, etc isn't very nice either.

Yeah....that's kind of a given I would assume? Putting any fish in that type of environment is cruel. Just saying I would rather pick up a captive bread fish. Rather then one that was caught out of the wild. I am also an avid salmon fishermen. And the only ones we are allowed to keep. Are "Hatchery" fish. Keeping wilds is against the law to preserve the species. So my children have a hobby to enjoy as well. Just saying it's people not thinking of that stuff that gets a species into trouble. I doubt that goes for a small puffer found off a dock but I am thinking of all the Nemos and Dorys and other extremely desired animals we just need to make sure we are also doing our due diligence in preserving the species. As well as feeding our habits....I mean hobbies lol

This is part of the reason my tank is a Caribbean/west Atlantic biotope. Everything *can be locally sourced though some species I'd like to get are difficult or problematic to source here myself. It's much easier to make a "pretty" tank if you aren't restricted to the western Atlantic lol
