Ok i added a Orange spotted goby to the tank 2 days ago. During the acclimation process it jumped out of the bag and int othe tank wher it quickly went behind the rock. I then seen it under one spot for a few hours just layign on the sand bed and in shock. I have not seen it since. I have looked everywhere for him and cant seem to find it. I even checked the floor behind the tank thinking he may have jumped out but still nothing. I got it to shift sand but at this point im wondering if it will make it in my tank. I have Vjamini Tang, Dejardini Tang, Blonde Naso and two clowns.

I'm not sure which one of these two you're talking about, if either:

Orange Spotted Shrimp Goby

I had an Orange Spotted Shrimp Goby and he did hide for a day or two in the beginning, but mine also vanished for good after a few weeks. I never had an Orange Diamond Goby, so I'm not sure if they behave the same. From my experience with different gobies, some will hide for a while in the beginning. I had a Yellow Clown Goby disappear for two weeks until it decided to suddenly come out.

It may just be hiding, so hopefully it'll come out. I had a Geometric Pygmy Hawk hide for 1-1/2 months after I added him. So, good luck.

it is the orange spotted diamond goby. I can not find him for the life of me. he is hidden pretty deep. He was out and hanging in thr tank at the LFS. This guy has very healthy fish and i do not think it is from the store. must be form the move. I keeop thinkign it will not be able to eat so i feed the tank a little bit more to make sure to gets down on the bottom of the tank. I only feed once a day to cut down on Ammonia and try to combat algae.

Sounds like a good plan. I also will feed a little more, when I add a new fish and it is hiding, in hopes it will eat.

Gobies do hide when first introduced (most of the time). Ive tried 2 orange spotted diamond gobies and found both of them dried up behind the tank. So there is a chance that it might of jumped out.

I had a goby MIA for 6 months once, thought he was long gone.
When he finally came out, I was about to swap up, and after that, I think it was like another 4 months before I saw him again, and he was much bigger, so I'm guessing he was eating pods.
Hopefully you have better luck.

I have a Orange Diamond Goby. The first day I had him in my tank he relandscaped the tank. I could not believe one fish could move so much sand. My issue now is that he seems like he is loosing weight and is very skinney. He eats when I feed him. I have heard about this issue. I have not heard or experienced a shy one.

im not sure, i have checkled behind the tank a few times to make sure but still nothing. My tank is not well established with pods so im hopeing that he finds food. I just wish he would come out but maybe after awhile who knows. Anyone else had any issues with them?

I hope I am wrong but it doesnt sound good. These are very active fish from what i have seen. You should see some major relandscaping by now.

i just found him, i noticed a spot of LR that seemed to have all of the sand moved away from it. I then got a flash light and looked under it and waited and then seen it under there moving some sand around. im not sure why its moving all the sand out from under the rock btu at least i know its alive.

Like I mentioned my goby relandscaped everything. He moved so much sand it clouded the water for a couple days. I am glad to hear you found him. I guess just give him time. Mine swims out in the water column to feed with the other fish.

I just added one to my 75g about a week and half ago. He finally started coming out about 4 days ago. So yeah, he hid for about a week.

Mt tank clouded up Sunday morning for no reason ,, that i thoguht, now that i think about it , it may have been that Goby moving Sand around i guess. My wife asked whats wrong with the tank. i looked and i was like WTH! then it just now hit me....

That sounds like the culprit. Don't be surprised when he starts really working to see no sand under rocks and big mounds of sand. They are quite a workhorse. I hope you have your rocks on the glass and not on top of sand. They could cause the rocks to fall if they are not on the glass. This could cause glass breakage.

i should have 3 diamond gobies the first was very small only saw it once since i put in in and thats about 2 month ago, then i got a larger one, took it almost a month to come out ;last time i saw that one was about 3 weeks ago. I bought a larger one about 2 weeks ago . That one it took about a week to come out, but i see that one everyday as its not as shy as the others. Hoping i still have 3 right now i know i have at least one, because i saw it today. They say they are good at jumping out the aquarium, Only time they could actually get out of my reef is when I'm doing a water change.
Hope they are all in there somewhere

Well to update this one i found him... He jumped out of the tank between Wed-Friday because i checked daily before then. I installed soem stuff under the back fo the canopy to prevent it from easaily jumping out of the tank and got a new one. He was otu for a little while then he got scared from the tangs and hide under a rock. i see it moving sand but it doesnt come out right now. I covered the tank to cut down on algae for a few days and hopefully it will be out when it gets uncovered.

I thought a cool move would be to get a YWG and a pistol pair...never see either ...I get a flashlight and find them sometime ..I'm currently trying to catch the pistol..
