jnarowe: ROFL... I'll have to try that!

nickb: Seriously though, I have not had to scrape the coraline off the new tank yet. When the time comes, James from Envision included two acrylic scrapers with the tank, also I just picked up the tigershark magnet scraper... I'll be sure to post what I do to keep the coraline under control. I'm hoping that if I run the tigershark everyday, the time spent running the scraper will be manageable! And welcome aboard!

Dudester & Lunchbucket: I know I should have figured out the generator issue during the concept phase... I'm sure I'll come up with something. In the past five years, this is only the second power outage, the first lasted 12 hours in sub zero weather. BURRRRRR!

3 gensets...why? Was it more economical to buy small ones dedicated to different systems, like one for the aquarium, one for the house, etc?

I didn't buy any especially. I used to be in the gardening/landscape business and I just seemed to acquire them. None are really used now but they are there if we really them.

I need to "just seemed to acquire them" myself. I'm sure if I look hard enough around here I can find a y2k leftover cheap:).

So the wife made the trip to the "city" today. LOL, the only LFS that has SW stuff is about 45 minutes west of us and it's so so. They have got much better over the last four or five months I must admit. Anyway I asked my wife to pick up a few things, IE carbon, flakes and mysis.. and some snails. Well they were basically out of stock and I got a whopping 3, yes THREE astraea snails. This now brings my clean up crew to 3 peppermint shrimp, 1 zebra legged hermit, three red legged hermits and 4 snails. Man the tank is going to sparkle:lol:

Guess I'll be doing the first of a 2-part online clean-up crew order...

:celeb2: :celeb1: WOW 600 posts. I think that Hop is going to have to go to someplace "secluded" for a month or so while he completes a 12 step program and completes his theropy:spin2:

Ahhh. Sterling (memories of college or a girl that was in college there:) )is on the other side of the state, 7 hours away... There are surely some good ones in the north Denver metro area, Boulder or Ft. Collins areas, only a few hours away from him... Maybe check with the Colorado Rocky Mnt. Reef Club. Those guys could give him a good referral:).

The only one in Denver I have been to that really specializes in SW was Sherman tank company or something like that... Lets just say I won't be running back there due to their customer service or lack there of:)

The only one near me is in Grand Junction, a stones throw from Utah:)

Steeltowndubber: Sorry, my DSL is still down and it would take the better part of the weekend to upload with my dial up:( Hopefully it will be restored soon!!

nbd13: The Brillianize came in the care package with the tank.

I actually just went here and saw that they have a dealer link. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll search for an old thread that had a link to a plastic company that sold in on line!

You got your tank from James right? i got one from him also and i never got a care package..... did he charge you extra for it?

thanks.

Nick

P.S. the linked worked. thanks!

I would say if you got the tank in the last year, I would fire off an e-mail. He was looking forward to a vacation and forgot mine, so I e-mailed him and he send one out via fed-ex the next day. I think he was getting a little swamped there before his vacation:)

It has the Brillianize, two scrapers, a couple rags and some scratch remover.

i got the tank i think at the end of august..... this year.

i know he is sending me some scrapers next week, wonder if he will send anything else?

thanks again.

Nick

i just received my hammerhead cleaning magnet in the mail. i was wondering if the velcro surface is what should be in contact with the glass to clean it. it seams like an odd cleaning material.

thanks,
doug

durango_doug: You should have received a white pad, similar to a scotch brite pad that goes on the velcro.

Here's a link for replacements or if you did not get one I would call the place that you ordered from.

acrylic pads

Yes, I received the white pad. It's just that in the instructions, it implies that the pad is just for acrylic. I will be using it on glass.
In the instructions, it says skip to step 3 for glass aquariums. Step two tells you to attach the white pad to the velcro, which leaves you with the velcro as the cleaning material for glass aquariums. They are probably just poorly written instructions, but I just wanted to make sure.

thanks for the link though.

durango_doug: LOL your absolutely right. I'll admit I really didn't read the instructions. Even on the "Enclosed" section of the manual... uh sheet it sure seems to indicate using the velcro on glass.

mag floats use velcro on the inside tank magnet and a finer felt on the magnet that passes on the outside of the tank. the velcro wont scratch the glass, just make sure to not get any sand grains in the velcro or youll be in trouble.
