adding a 3rd clownfish

i have 2 false percs in my tank now. I have had them together for over a year. Will it be a problem if i add a 3rd one to the tank?

I don't have any direct experience, so take it or leave it, but everything I've read says that teh pair you have will beat up and probably kill a third. I could be wrong though.

i was thinking that it could be a problem. i am getting 3 fish from a friend for free. a blue hippo, a pink anthias, and a clown. i will prob just have to find a new home somewhere else for the clown i guess.

I've got 2 orange FP's and one Black FP. They occasionally intermingle, but it's rare and brief. Minimal fighting. I used to also have a pink skunk who minded his own bee's wax. No problems. Clowns are home bodies and will pick a spot and hang. I'm sure #3 will find a spot. OR it could be a battle royale.

I had a FP and a black FP in my 215. Daughter got tired of her FP so we moved it to the 215 to join the others. Battle royale started and never stopped. We gave it a couple days and ended up moving the black FP to the daughters tank. The black FP was clearly the odd man out and probably wouldn't have lasted a couple more days. He practically swam into the net just get away from his tormentors. - Mark

well looks like thier will be a free clown fish tomorrow. i am grabbing all 3 tonight i will just put the clown in the sump untill i can find somewhere for it to go. dont want to mess with the pair i have, and dont want to kill the new guy.

I just picked up some gorgeous fish, in the group was a clown which would be a third. fortunately a local reefer was looking for a clown, just floating the bag waiting for him the battle had already started.

John - Your looking at this wrong. You don't need to get rid of a clown, you need to get another tank. - Mark
