Adding a Flame Angel to a reef tank

Sorry to hear about the flukes, this is a good example of why I always qt new fish! Luckily, you can treat your display tank with a couple rounds of prazipro if it is indeed flukes. I have done it in the past, as have many other members here, with no ill effects on my reef. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle regarding turning off the skimmer and removing any carbon. Hope this helps, gl.

Have you confirmed flukes via FW dip? Scratching can mean a lot of things, including ich, marine velvet, etc.

The guy in my LFS today told me that in 6 years only on two occasions they had problems with the Flames they've sold.

I think EVERY flame nips, just some are worse than others. Many times you don't see them nip, you just see a general decline in a piece of LPS, or SPS. Often reason for the decline is ascribed elsewhere.

I think just about EVERY dwarf angel nips. But sometimes it's only certain corals, or the coral's growth rate keeps up with the nipping. Or, as you mentioned, the coral goes into decline and it's a big mystery. ;)

Its no mystery to me why the Acros in my 125 show no PE, and generally don't do well. I have now moved almost all of them over to my 50 gallon SPS tank, and magically they are showing great PE and growing. Luckily my Flame Angel hasn't touched any LPS...

Thanks! Well, i am waiting for the QT to arrive but in the meantime I lost my Midas Blenny... ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜ž Prazipro is not available in Europe so I have bought Tremazol from Sera. It is Praziquantel based but I do not think I can use it in the display tank. The instructions tell you to do a 80% (at least) water change after medicating and repeating 7 days later so I will be transferring the fish to the QT tomorrow and do the first treatment. From what I have read it does not affect the bacteriological filter so I will move a couple of large pieces of rock to the QT to have some bio filtration, as I fear 9 fish in a 30g may be a bit too much for just a piece of seeded filter floss.

If anyone has had any experience with Tremazol please let me know!

I will try it tomorrow when I move them to the QT. I am a bit nervous and scared that I will do more harm than good, but will go ahead. I do not see white outs in any of the fish so have ruled ich out. I will do the Teemazol treatment in the QT and given that I will need to leave the main tank fallow for at least 3/4 weeks will probably follow with 2 weeks of Paraguard, just in case.

Hah, yeah, I think you are right. I have both a flame and a potters in my tank and they definitely nip a bit - not enough to do any real damage, but enough that some of my LPS are showing reduced PE.
