Adding a Fuge

I read a fascinating article in September's Aquarium Fish International Magazine titled 5 Helpful Refugium Animals and it got me thinking that I should add another fuge to my system. (Which doesn't have water in it yet, but I'm getting close) I am very interested in creating to the breeding safe haven for these organisms the magazine talks about.

I have a 75G aquarium with a 30G sump the I want to add another fuge to. Currently, the set up is a CPR CS102 overflow, with 2-1" outputs going to the sump. The sump is 35" long approx with flow going from skimmer section (14") to Fuge (9") and return with a magdrive12 (12"). The mag12 goes up 5' of 1/2" tubing to 1/2" PVC at the top of the tank where it splits to 3 lockline outputs using wyes.

I'm thinking of getting a 5G or 10G tank and using one of the overflow outputs with a ball valve to restrict the flow to the new fuge. Or maybe a small pump in the return section to pump water into the new fuge.

Here's the questions: How do I get the water from the new fuge to the sump? How have/would you add/ed a fuge to your setup?

I am sorry for bringing up the wrong subject in this post, but mfinn your avitar made me check out your gallery and you have some amazing zoos. Do you have a picture of your 40 gallon zoanthid tank?
mamabug good luck with your new set up.

mfinn, you're saying I should install a bulkhead fitting in the new fuge tank and then put the tube in the fuge? Just checking. Sounds like a good Idea!! Thanks for the help. I have a few things to add to my flexpvc.com list.

thanks clownaround2, I'll post pics when I get to drilling the glass.

A bulkhead fitting with a pvc 90 and pipe down to the sump.
But it all depends on whether or not you can elevate the refugium.
Using a small low flow powerhead for moving water up to the refugium, them letting gravity move water back to the sump.

The tank is down for room remodeling, but will be back up next month.

My stand is under construction, so I can plan for the elevated sump. You talk about using a powerhead to get the water from the sump to the fuge. How do you feel about just using one of the overflow outlet with a ball valve to restrict the flow to feed the fuge and the other outlet would feed the sump?
