adding local anemones

hi all,
I have the opportunity of adding these beautiful anemones we find here in Malta in the mediterrenean. I know some who added them to their tank however local reefers told me not to add them as they might eat the fish i currently have. What do you think if i add them? pictures are attached.

my current stock is:
1 blue tang
2 clownfish
2 bangaii cardinals
1 pajama cardinal
1 yellow spotted goby
1 bicolor blenny
1 filefish.

thanks all!

I think you should listen to the local reefers. I'm not positive of the ID of these anemones, but if it's what I think which is a common Sea Anemone they are not host anemones and yes they will eat fish.

Why don't you post this in the anemone and clown forum and see what some of the other anemone people have to say.

There are no clownfish in the Caribbean and there are no Condy anemones in the South Pacific. I introduced the two in my tank it it only took a week for the clowns to develop a comfortable relationship with the Condy.

I keep some warty anemones (which are native to the gulf coast, gulf of Mexico) in my tank. The clowns have never shown interest in them but they look cool and stay in one place. It helps that they stay small though, they're only 3" across.

What are the water temperatures in the sea around Malta? If the temperatures are significantly below tropical levels and you keep your tank in the tropical zone (I assume you do based on your stock list), you may have a problem with them. I'd seek out an experienced local reefer who's tried it or has an authoritative answer.

They may do best in a cold water tank. Yes, beautiful animals you have there.

You don't want a dead anemone in your tank if you can help it. It can be a disaster.

Malta is very neat. I was on Holland America cruise that stopped there and walked all around. ...beautiful place and interesting history. I'm clueless about your anemone though lol.

Temperature varies between 16 and 30 Celsius. They are very hardy. Might try it out see how it goes
