adding potters angel?

I saw a healthy potters angel at the LFS yesterday, and REALY REALLY WANT IT! LOL.

anyways, I just added a rusty angel last night, and I was wondering, if I went back to the LFS and got the potters, would there be a problem between it and the rusty? should I return the rusty and get the potters?

I don't think you should get the Potters JMO. They are a delicate and shy fish. If you do make sure it's eating.

You need to meet the one i have. Far from delicate, and was only shy for the first week. It gives as good as it gets from all the other fish. As far as both in the same tank, that may not work. Mine eats mysis and nori sheets with my big sailfin tang.

See if the LFS will hold the potters for a while, and make sure it is eating.

They do have a poor track record, but if you get past 2 months, should be okay.

As far as keeping it with a Rusty, I don't think that would be a good idea, since they are similar in color and pattern.

I'd be worried about him getting bullied. Besides that Potters have dismal survival rates in captivity. It's quite possible to find a good specimen but most of the ones I've encountered in the hobby have been severely stressed from shipping and don't accept food.

okay, thanks, I have decided against getting it now, but if they still have it in a month (soonest I am going to add new fish) I will look into it

I agree with the others, if you do decide to get the Potter's make sure it's eating well, fat and well-coloured. Also watch its behaviour - if it's hiding, spooky and not picking at the decor, forget it. A healthy Potter's should be bold, bright, inquisitive, fat, constantly looking for food and chubby.

I went through three Potter's angels before finding one that was truly healthy, but I'm glad I persevered. She's a stunning fish with a lovely personality, and easily the most eye-catching thing in the tank. We've had her for months now and she's healthy as a horse - once they're established, these fish seem to do very well. I believe mine has done so well because she was at the LFS for three weeks before I bought her. Potter's don't ship well, and a rest period seems to make all the difference in the world.

As for keeping a Potter's with your rusty, I don't forsee a huge problem. Potter's tend to be mild mannered (compared to halfblacks, lemonpeels etc.) and you added the shy rusty first. If there are plenty of hiding places and you have lots of rockwork for grazing (another must for Potter's angels IMHO) they should coexist without issue. I've got a feisty little coral beauty and he and my Potter's get along just fine, despite the fact that they look quite similar and are nearly exactly the same size.

I think I've got a demon Potters. He's fat and healthy, but a terrible bully and a notorious coral nipper. I wouldn't try it except in a very large tank, but my experience is apparently not typical.
