Adobe vs. Corel

Sorry for the photo-newb questions. I'm looking at software for photo editing. I want the best all around package. (No I cant afford CS4) I like macro, landscape, and portraits. I'm looking at Photoshop Elements and Corels Paint shop Photo Ultimate X2 I believe. Same price. Which one would be better? Any input would be appreciated.

I don;t know much about Corel stuff. I like Adobe (PS) and I think (you should check this for yourself) that the Elements is a scalled down version of PS that is quite capable of excellent photo editing.

IPT is correct. I use Elements which is a scaled down version of CS. While I am neither a professional photographer nor pro Photoshopper, I find Elements very powerful and have yet to explore its full capabilities.

I just posted some pics I did with Elements in the SPS Keepers forum on a thread requesting macro pictures: here
