Advice on ATO, RO/DI

Hey -

I have a 75g fowlr and im adding a 30g L sump this week w/ oveflow box/mag12 return pump/skimmer...

would love to get peoples opinion/experience/advice on;

- ATO; do u recommend it and if so what kind? I use a glass canopy so currently dont have a lot of evaporation but maybe the sump wil increase that...

- does anyone use a float valve of some kind on their return pump to prevent it from burning out or overflowing the main tank if the overflow looses siphon?

- i have a 3 stage RO but no DI - is it worth it, shoukd i get an add/on unit?

Did you buy anything yet? I have a Lifereef overflow box and it's been rock solid for about 4 years now. I haven't had a problem at all and that's without even cleaning it.

My RO water reads about 12 before it goes into my DI chamber. It reads 0 out of the chamber. That's with fairly new filters. Go DI.

I created my own ATO via my APEX. Is that an option for you?

I have used just a float switch in the sump hooked into a an APEX controller for years.

As for the DI unit, yeah get one, you want TDS reading to be 0, it will generally be 10-20 after the RO and the DI will knock that down you you.

Thanks for the replies! I do already have an overflow box, but thanks. Sou ds like a DI unit is in my future. Where do u guys buy/sell used gear? On this LIRA forum?
