Hi all,*

Just starting a tank again after a few years break from the last largely unsuccesful reef aquarium I had.*

Very simple setup at present;
24 gallon cube with glass top
Ro water
Instant ocean salt
7kg of liverock
Less thab 1 inch coral substrate

Blau 18w cheap light
Fluval sea 425 gph
Aquaclear 30 hob filter
Ehaum heater

Firefish
2 Cleaner shrimp

Looking to get a couple of clownfish for my kids benefit and more cleaning crew and will leave it at that.

*I know its a very simple set up but do you think its alright??Want to upgrade to simple reef later with a few easy corals so plan to upgrade lighting and sal
t at some point.

Would love any advice that people have?

Simple is good, and that sounds like a good start you have planned :)

Thanks very much. That sounds good. Would it be as simple as upgrading the salt mix and lighting to add a few easy soft corals? I dont really want the trouble of setting up a sump or such. Never had much luck with that sort of thing before but plan to keep on top of the water changes

simply upgrading the lights and staying on top of the water chemistry and basic maintenance will be more then enough to start adding easy corals like zoas and mushrooms.

The Instant Ocean salt mix is fine. Just throw in a powerhead or two for increased internal circulation and upgrade the lights. Be fine for softies ;)
