I have asked many questions and started many threads, but they die after a few days. So here I am with some more questions and a new thread. I have most of my stock list figured out and need some last pieces put into place. Here is the list:

2 B&W Ocellaris Clowns
5 Resplendent Anthias
3 Orange-back Fairy Wrasses OR Exquisite Fairy Wrasses
1 Randall's Watchman Goby
1 Royal Gramma
1 Yellow Tail Damsel, Fiji Blue Devil Damsel, and Azure Damsel
1 Red Mandarin
1 Tennenti Tang
1 Purple Tang(fell in love with them over the pyramid butterflyfish)

Now here lie some questions that I have. I have heard that anthias are troublesome for people to QT because they pick on and kill the weakest in the group. Is this true? Please share your experiences. Also, is it best to buy all females and have them work it out themselves or 4 females and 1 male? I have a 46 gallon QT that is 36" long, would this help reduce that? With the exquisite fairy wrasses, do the females get to the max 5" in length or do they stay smaller? If they stay smaller how small are they? Again, is it a good thing to get juviniles or all females to work it out or 1 male and 2 females? Lastly, would you add a purple tang before the tennenti tang or the other way around?

How old is the tank I assume younre cycled every thing after every thing died if not slow down and take it easy I to get knew thing thendaynafter they died but then I realized that's not what reef ing is about but your stock is fine if you add them slowly and recycled I would add the purple tang last don't mean to soundharshon the take it easy part

I am getting close to cycling, just need to get my sump set up and fill with water. I am trying to get my stocklist done so I know what fish to get, essentially planning out the tank as to prevent any guilty pleasure purchases. I am taking it slow and getting my questions answered on this thread will definantly help. I tend to think ahead more than I should but it all works out, at least the past 16 years it has. Thanks for the advice!

I would add the purple last I have heard they are very aggressive and I am pretty sure tenneti tangs are peaceful and only milldly aggresive towards tangs.

I qt'd my dispar anthias together without issue. I think if they're going to fight in the quarantine, they'll likely end up fighting in the display. The purple tangs I've dealt with have been very aggressive, I'd add last for sure. Doesn't A. tennentii get like 12+ inches?

Acording to LA only 10 and I have heard that 80% of LA max size is usauly how big they get.

LA says 10" where as Bluezoo says 12" and I trust LA more so than Bluezoo. Don't nail me on this but if a purple tang gets 10" then I think the tennenti tang will be good. Hopefully I can manage to get both at the smaller sizes available that would mean that they shouldn't be quite so nasty, may be that's not true. I just figure that while in the ocean, if you are small you would like some buddies to be around to lower your chances of being eaten...

I need to know how to qt multiple anthias. I have read about others having the weakest one being killed during qt. I don't know if a 46 gallon is big enough to prevent this for five of them.

If they are all seperated, wouldn't all of them turn male? I know that having multiple males in too small of a tank will lead to fighting...

Make sure your QT tank is well cycled & go sloooow adding fish to the display tank.

A purple tang isn't going to get 10" in your 125g tank. You'll be lucky if it grows to 6". If it was me I would go with only one tang.

Thanks for your advice Big E. My QT is pretty well cycled already, because its been holding my CUC and 50lbs of LR. I have been feeding shrimp to the tank so the nassarius snails have something to eat because there aren't any fish.

As far quarantining a group of fish, such as anthias, go out and buy some 1" and 1.5" pvc and cut them into ~6" lengths. Buy a few pvc 90's too(the fish prefer to sleep in these rather than straight pipe). Throw them in a big pile in the qt. This will provide PLENTY of hiding spots.

As far as the two tangs, probably not an issue which you add first. They are drastically different and the tennenti will likely be much larger than the purple at purchase size(and in general :) ). The tangs should be last though.

Thanks! I will be sure to go out and get lots of pvc in the next few weeks. I am sure the other fish will enjoy it, especially the goby :).
