Aefw or stn?

Please help me diagnose the problem. I just noticed this today but it could be a few days old. Due to work haven't been able to take a close look at the tank last two days. The drag was purchased about 10 days ago. It was dipped in coral rx and placed in the sand. I did see a flatworm come off when it was dipped. After a week in the sand it was dipped again and placed on rocks. That was 3 or 4 days ago. I didn't see anything come off during the dip. I took it off the rocks and dipped again today. It was hard to tell but I think the only things that came off were a few pods.

Water parameters are as follows:
Sg. 1.025
Alk. 7.7-7.8 dkh
Cal. 425
Temp 78.2-78.8
Nitrates undetectable on Red Sea test kit
Phosphate around 0.025 Red Sea

I dose 4 ml nopox every day. Also 5ml of each part bionic every morning. I have a ghl Mitras light that peaks out at 40%. 2 vortech mo 40 on anti sync reef crest at about 50 percent. Tank is 100 gallon cube. I have an Oregon tort frag that seems to be doing well. Bought from an online vendor and dipped as well. Didn't notice anything come off either time it was dipped. Both frags were dipped at purchase and a week later upon placing on rocks. Both frags about half way up 24 inch tall tank. Light 12 inches above water line.

tough to say from the pic, AEFW bites look different, but knowing you have them, I suppose you could get some secondary STN at the base where they have gotten hold. that would be my guess...

It might not have liked the coral rx dip. It seems to be harsh from what I noticed. If you think you had a aefw fly off I would pull the frag off of the plug.

One or two defiantly came off on the first dip. It has been dipped twice since then and haven't been able to tell if any came off. I blasted it pretty good with a baster. The only thing that came off were what appeared to be 2 pods. It looked fine until I placed it on the rock work. It was up there for about 3 days or so before I noticed this issue. Maybe it didn't like where I put it and it wasn't getting enough flow at the base? Also I run gac and poly filter in the sump. The Oregon tort had a very small amount of tissue loss from shipping but after a little over a week it looks like that is beginning to heal up.

I would place it in an area with more flow in the tank, if it progresses anymore, cut it off above the area in question, reattach to a different base, and try again!

That's exactly what I plan on doing. I also will dip every week for 5 weeks in case it is aefw.

Coral RX is a bit harsh... I would dip in bayer once a week. Also, cut the acro from the base and remount it just to be safe. AEFW lay there eggs on the base and on the underside of the plugs/rocks.

If you take the coral out of the water for about 5 minutes, you should be able to see some small scale movement if you had AEFWs. They blend well with the coral but once removed from the water, you can see this tiny pest move around slowly...if you have them

Only other coral in the tank are an Oregon tort frag and a superman monti frag. I didn't see any movement or eggs yesterday when I dipped. I blasted it pretty good with a turkey baster also. It appears to be spreading a bit. Gonna try to frag my frag when I get the kids to bed.

So I dragged it. I had to re use the plug because I had nothing else available. I boiled it so I would think that would kill any aefw or eggs.

There is nothing in the tank that can sting it though. Well anyway frag didn't make it. It rtn'd after fragging the tip.
