AEFW-Removed all Acros-How long to wait?

I've purged my tank of ALL Acroporas (into the trash today). How long do I need to wait before re-introducing new acros to the tank again?

I've searched and can't find any good answers to this question. Please help!

BTW, yes, I'm certain there are no remnants or encrustiations remaining.

wow ! were they all dead ?

I dont know how long, but at least 2 months, are we even sure they do not survive without a host ?

bigger question is, what are your plans for QTing corals after ?

From everything I found, 4 weeks is plenty of time to starve them. So add in any potential eggs that may have been on the rocks near the acros, I added another 2 weeks. I did not add any acros back to my system for 7 weeks.

The key now is to QT EVERY coral that you get, no matter what type of coral it may be.

Apparently the eggs take 21 days to hatch, so to be certain assure yourself for at least 2 cycles. Thats 42 days. I did 3x with mine to be sure.

Thanks for the replies. Unless someone gives a good reason to do otherwise, I'll wait 'til the first of the year (about 60 days).

That sounds legit, I would also recommend natural predators as a secondary measure to rid yourself of the little suckers. Melanurus Wrasse for example.

Good luck.
