afex's 135g Rimless Cube

Dude, big fan of your setup, love this tank, you've inspired me the same way your tank inspiration guy did you! Look out for the next AGE 36x36x24 tank owner!

ever get that algae under control? I am still battling. Going to scrub some more rock tonight. The bright side is that it isn't growing as bad as it did in my last tank thankfully.

yes i have updates. (finally! :])

sorry about the long absence, i got a new job at the beginning of march and have barely had any time for my tank or anything aquaria related for quite awhile. but now i'm back in the saddle.

so what's new?

well first the bad news. i made a mistake while medicating my Tang and goby in QT, and they both died. :(

equipment-wise, i've setup my two-part dosing system. i originally planned to go with the "balling light" method, but decided to go with the two-part from bulk reef supply for now. changing to balling in the future would be simple since it would just mean filling my dosing jugs with different fluid. the dosing is going through the 3 unused pumps on my 4-way GHL doser connected to my profilux. this was setup late march i think. i'm dosing very lightly now, but even with that i'm seeing good growth out of my ORA borealis and tenuis.

in coral news, the corals that i've already posted seem to have lightened up (in a bad way) they are not browning; it is more like a fading. (my once dark pink/blue millepora is now faded light pink) i'm not sure if this is due to excessive lighting or what. i think it could be due to having a fallow tank (no fish, no feedings) for 2 months, since i've read about this being a risk of ULN (ulta low nutrient) tanks.

i also got 2 new montipora frags, both ORA. a purple rim cap and a purple/green digitata. (no pics of those yet, sorry)

but the real news are the new fish :D

when i finally came up for breath from my new job, i decided to jump back into my tank by picking up 2 montipora frags and 6 anthias. 3 lyretail, and 3 silver streak.

they are all getting along together great, swimming in a mixed school most of the day. (one of the silver streak is kinda shy and likes to hide in the rocks though) they ate well about an hour after being in the tank.

for future plans, my primary goal is to figure out my SPS coloration issue. any suggestions are welcome!

Your tank is a mirror image of mine. The "algae" problem (mine has been all but eradicated using a combo of water changes, ULNS, UV, and algaefix. Now if it will stay that way :) ) few fish( I just added a couple more), lightening of corals.

I had red bugs on one of my frags. Since using the algaefix I haven't seen them again. Color hasn't improved though. I should probably go ahead and try to get some intecetor. Let me know if you figure out your lightening problem.

I'm still at awe on how well thought out and beautifully this build turned out. If you don't mind me asking, where you ordered the tank and stand from and how much they cost. Thanks.

the tank cost about $1700, and was purchased from A.G.E.

not sure about the stand >.<

Just found your tanks build post, very nicely built. I see that you have an AGE tank, very nice, was your stand made by AGE, if not could you tell me how the process went on getting your stand approved so as not to void your warranty?

Afex,

I know you haven't posted many updates, which is cool, but hoping I can inspire you, I'm sure you've seen kinetic's pictures floating around on the web sites, and I know you have some love for photography too...maybe this will make you want to get back in the game? He's taking some nice shots of his new stuff, after being out of the game a while too. See what you think...
