after market fixes for Seaclone skimmer?

I need any advice on after market modifications that can be done to a Seaclone skimmer to make it work better. I have the newest model-still I cannot seam to get the bubble mix to raise high enough for the skimaide to reach the collection cup-and to add insult to injury the intake sponge on my maxi jet is covered with hair algae-help! I would really love to hurl this whole thing into the back ally wall as I did with all my Rios-but a piece of sh@t skimmer is better than no skimmer. Anyways any recommendations would be helpful, thanks.

I always had to adjust the venturi valve, it was a pain in the butt. But when it was properly adjusted it worked pretty good. I did upgrade to a Remora though.

Really? I am a slave to that stupid valve! I have an on/off switch on my main pump for feeding mysis and everyday when I am done feeding and turn the main pump back on the skimmer needs calibrating and I need a drink! I should just start saving my pennies for a Remora. Are there models that hang on the back of tanks as I tried to put my tiny Seaclone into my even smaller sump-no go...better research Remoras' thanks.

edit: Just looked at the Remoras, O.K. -they all hang on the back, nice and slim :)

I would deffinatly upgrade. I actually bought a Urchin (in sump model) not the remora. I love it because i dont have to touch it!

There are actually a lot of extras you can do to make the seaclone a better and decent skimmer

1. Go to Lowes or home depot and get a different air vaulve that is less sensitive
2. Cut out a bioball and fit it around the impeller to make a DIY needle wheel skimmer
3. Drill another hole on the cap for the collection cup and run air tubing throught it down to the bottom of the skimmer into an airstone

You can get a seaclone to work pretty well if you take the time.

Cool, thanks Shelbyville-I have more time than $ right now! Plus b/w my sister & I we probably have about 5 of these crap bombs laying around and in service! I am drawing a blank on the DIY needle wheel-will do a search on this, thanks again

ok, I am a slave to the valve too. But luckily there is a fix.. the rigid tubing / air stone works really well... I still need to drill my cap though, if i leave the skimmer on for a few hours and walk away, Ill have a softball sized bubble of bubbles at the top of it.

Just plop an air stone at the bottom.
