I started my 29 gal nano with two ocellaris clowns.everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago when it appeared they started to fight with each other.today I found the smaller one had jumped out of the tank and died.what to do now? It's a problem adding a new clown to the tank, right? I wasn't planning on breeding them but it was nice having two.should I get two new ones or just stay with the one and maybe add a different fish.i also have a yellow assessor and a shrimp goby pair.any thoughts?

Just ad another clown either way bigger or way smaller than your clown you have now it sounds like both of your clowns we're trying to fight to be the female and one was so stressed it jumped when you purchase a new one just make sure it is either bigger or smaller. And get a screen it's cheap and you can get it from marine depot .

Way smaller would likely work. Way larger would not. Also the OP should get a mesh top.

Way smaller is the way to go :D. My 9 year old female Darwin Clown died about four years ago, her male mate was alone in the tank for about 4 months. I had been housing an extremely small baby in a nursery tank for a year or so, I waited those four months and then introduced the baby to the "male". The male converted to female as she was so much larger than the juvenile. After a couple of years they are now laying a batch of eggs regularly together. I have cool video of it as they lay right up front and center under their Rose anemone. Its relatively easy to introduce a new one when it is juvenile and has not converted to either sex.
