AGA92 Corner Reef Tank Build

Kara snapped a few pictures of the new additions tonight. She got some good ones of the Orange Spotted Prawn Goby in the 10g nano:

Unfortunately, the Green Mandarin didn't come out far enough to get a good shot and the only one that is decent looks like one of those pictures you see on the National Enquirer of Big Foot:
<a href="http://www.omnipresence.ca/images/blog/AGA92/NF0109/IMG_1805.JPG" target=_blank><img src="http://www.omnipresence.ca/images/blog/AGA92/NF0109/IMG_1805-1.JPG" border=0></a>

Here's one of the Emerald Crab in the 10g Nano:
<a href="http://www.omnipresence.ca/images/blog/AGA92/NF0109/IMG_1813.JPG" target=_blank><img src="http://www.omnipresence.ca/images/blog/AGA92/NF0109/IMG_1813-1.JPG" border=0></a>

While taking the pictures we put some food into the 10g Nano and Kara started screaming. The hitchhicker crab that came with one of the rocks that we tried everything to get rid of came crawling out of the same rock it came in.

So her and one of our friends are going to take that rock out this weekend and try to get it out...again.

Looks like that bubble algae is starting to reform... ??? I think I see some in the elusive "bigfoot" shot.

We didn't remove the base rocks because they are buried in the sand. They don't have nearly the amount of bubble algae as the top rocks so we're hoping that they go away in time.

We're going to get another emerald crab and hopefully it doesn't mysteriously perish.

i have had bubble algae in my DT in several places, it comes and goes as long as you keep up with removing most of it you should be fine.

I Just had BA break out in my DT the last month and found eash week I'll break them off so they don't go mad. Still I can't get all them because they find some hard places to reach to.
IS BA a result if phosphate problem?

Not sure...the last test we did on the tank showed zero PO4.

Same here, last test showed phosphate as 0 yet I too have green bubble algee. Must come from somthing else.

okay found a good page on green bubble algae.
http://www.fishlore.com/bubblealgae.htm
"Supposedly this algae, like most others, needs nitrates to grow. Phosphates may play a role too along with a mix of others. Keeping these levels as low as possible means that algae in general should have a hard time growing. "

So while at the LFS on the weekend, I saw that they had a LTA with a Clown hosted in it. I went back tonight and got a good look at the clown and asked the owner about them both.

Looks like it is a Maui Long Tentacle Anemone and a Cinnamon Clown:

They also had what appears to be a Jawfish, but I'm not 100% sure...have a look and let me know what you think it is:

Sorry for the bad pictures, my camera was a bit foggy from being outside and coming into a very humid environment plus they were cleaning the tanks so the water wasn't very clear...

Also, they got an order of tangs in today, so they have a bunch of Kole Yellow Eye Tangs.

I had a look at the tang I've been eyeing up for a while and I'm fairly certain it's a White Cheek Tang.

So there's our fish list, all at the LFS. We don't want to rush it and he will house them for us for as long as we need. Decisions, decisions... :D

if i had to guess i think its a blue spotted watchman goby imdb and not a jaw fish.

thats great they have most of the fish on your list tho!!!!!

While trying to snap a picture of the mandarin last night we spoted one of the emerald crabs in the AGA92.

And then this morning with the lights off in the tank, I saw both of them.

Remember that the tests may show 0 but that is AFTER the bubble algae eats it up. Testing the top off water and change water for phosphates can help ID any trouble areas. Also I had quite a bit of success with rinsing my frozen mysis before feeding. That really reduced alot of excess nutrients, a brine shrimp net really helped (thanks Scott!).

Hehe. That looks a lot more like it. I just couldn't find that many spots on the fish. Beauty of a fish. Well HIMDB? Is it the watchman?

Finally a picture of the Mandarin

Finally a picture of the Mandarin

Kara was finally able to snap a shot of the mandarin:
