AgentSPS' 300 Gallon ***DreamReef***

Hi Erik, I feel sorry for your lost. I would not know what I'm gonna do if that happens on my tank. Actually, was planning to give you a visit to see if I can convince you to sell me a frag of your 30k.

EdReef:

I recently heard a similar story from James from Aquascene. I was surprised to hear this as I had almost 100% survival rate during my last move. In retrospect it was a decision on my part to do the dip during the tare down. This is not to say I would not have experienced the same outcome but it just compounded the risk.

I also decided to dip mine in Coral Rx when I did the move - could not figure out what cause those issues for me?? :eek2:

I stop by Eric's today to give him a hand on installing the light but he was not ready yet. Tank has water in it the plumming was 99% done. It looks great.

Now everyone knows I have made more progress than my thread indicates :D So lets get you all caught up:

Now that all the livestock is removed from the old tank, it was time to move the monster in the house. After lots of searching, I learned the Cresco rents suction cups. I rented all the sets in the Bay Area!!

Jesus being dangerous with a drill. He was amazed that a corded drill operates the same as a cordless! Imagine that :eek1: It took like 100 screws to get all the crate walls off!

Unfortunately I was too busy helping remove a backyard gate and heavy sliding glass doors to take photos of the process. FF a few hours and the stand frame is in place. Due to uneven floor tiles, we set it on ~1/2” thick strips of commercial mat material.

Here is a shot of one of the side fascia removed from the frame. The fascia bolts to a wooden frame which simply slides over the metal frame. Makes it very easy to get full access to all equipment. Good thinking Invincible!

After several broken backs and 22 crushed fingers, we got the tank in place. I decided to do a water test for just the bulkheads first before doing all the plumbing. This way if there was a leak in a bulkhead, there would be MUCH less time invested.

Its only 300 gallons…needed to do a water change on the pond anyway!

FF a few weeks and I am starting to think this will end up being my main display:

Plumbing proved to be one of the most challenging jobs I have done. Despite the fact this is the largest tank I have worked with, my huge sump took up most of the free space. With my last tank, I left the skimmer in back of the stand. In addition, the Barracuda running the closed loop was in back of the stand as well. This proved to be a noisy setup and my goal for the new system was to cut down on the noise. Therefore all equipment but the ballasts and chiller need to fit under the stand in a 36” x 36” space!! A job like this call for a LOT of plumbing!

Got valves?

Believe it or not I actually ran out of fittings. Thankfully my buddy ACGreen hooked me up with more! Thanks Aaron!

One Tunze Master Recirculation pump for closed loop and one for return.

FF about 8 hours and I have a mockup for most of the plumping done. I use the cheap Home Depot 200psi white pipe to do the mockup because my gray schedule 40 is $$$. I also like the lower PSI pipe because it is thinner which allows insertion and removal to be much easier. Did I just say that??

Not sure how easy it is to make out in the photos but there are a LOT of 45’s! I wanted to make sure the plumbing was as out of the way as possible for easier access to the sump and equipment. The skimmer will sit just to the left of the sump.

And some love for the car fanatics. It was a down payment on this or the tank. The sacrifices I make for this damn hobby!! Are Porsche's affected by AEFW?
