Did you consider building the netting with acrylic square tubes instead?

Nope i didn't...can't really picture how I would construct. Care to elaborate?

Only have one going now and the flow is amazing! Water on the surface is totally churned up. The current is strong enough 72" out that it creates a swirling affect on the opposite end of the tank.

No they are just the full blast model. I ordered them to hold me over until I purchase the 6105's. Not sure yet when that will be. Probably not necessary until I repopulate the SPS.

JuniorMC-

Beautiful specimen and excellent photography work!

Very interesting observation. Myself and another Leuk owner are experiencing a similar predicament. My female has been quite hostile to the male. Recently both of us added anemones to the system and it only emboldened the females. When I return home today I will need to pull the male out and put him in a separate system as she is just too mean. Sad to say that I will probably end up selling both since they cannot seem to get along.

Those are beautiful clownfish!!! I also love your wrasses, never saw those but would gladly get some if i can find some in Canada!!!

I know my male is TINY, and seems to never get any larger...the female is probably 2-3 times the size.

Im actually thinking about removing the male for a extended period of time and letting him get big and fat, and reintroduce them to each other down the road and see what happens.

Worse case one wins, one well...

She hosts a huge colony of duncuns and will go after a 5" flame wrasse when he comes by, so aggression is definitely an issue.

I am good friends with a guy whos neighbor bread them for years...ill ask and see if he has any tips....obviously he figured out something we havent.

are your males much smaller than the females? They are such neat clowns

This will likely just result in you having two females (if you don't already).

true enough...

Not sure what the solution is...

If i figure it out, ill let you know.

Richard-

I have followed your thread as well. I think you are doing just fine in Canada obtaining some gems. Love those Declivis Butterflies! Sorry to hear you lost one.

Thanks but i never saw those wrasse in canada yet

The other declivis is doing much better, he seem to be a goner too but he made it! I will let him in the QT for another week before putting him in the main tank, he seem to have no interested in sps and clam for now.

Yes in my 16 years doing this I have only seen 3 femininus wrasses. I had the fortune of having some folks looking out for me. Had her for almost 3 years until she jumped. Most frustrating thing was that she landed on the euro bracing just an inch from the water. Just a little wiggle and she would probably have fallen back in the water. Oh well......

QT
As for QT, I sort of have mixed views on them. When my last reef was well established, I took down my QT and began adding fish directly to the reef. Even if they showed some signs of infection, it would always clear up on its own without spreading to the other inhabitants. I can only suspect that the environment was so healthy that the fishes own immune systems would take care of infection. Now obviously this is a generalization as there are many quite virulent bugs out there but I would probably not hesitate adding an expensive and rare fish directly to the tank if provided I had an established reef. This is just my personal experience and I am not necessarily recommending it to others.

I do, however, profess that on a newly established reef, I definitely recommend a separate QT. Especially if all the fish are freshly imported and have not been in captivity for a long period. Also the bigger the QT, the better. Lots of hiding spots too.

FWIW I plan on keeping the 240 gallon storage container up for a while as I plan on picking up some butterflies, tangs, and more wrasses.
