Super Abound
i've got 2 yellow assessor's in a 34g cube going on 5 months now, no other fish/shrimp/crabs only coral, snails and various sand critters. both added at the same time, one slightly bigger than the other.
the last 3 days, the big one wouldn't even let the little one out of his cave (his sleeping cave). anytime the little one came out, the other would more aggressively than usual dart from across the tank just to keep the small guy contained.
i was nervous cuz I could tell the little guy wanted to eat but he refused to risk it, he'd watch me as i fed the tank and anytime he tried to come out he got bumped. well, today he's out and swimming with the big guy. they ate together. no aggression at all ???
the bigger one fluctuates with his aggressiveness. this was the worst it had gotten tho. its not like other fish aggression, obviously. he'll dart out and quickly bump the other and dart back into cover. i was more worried about him keeping the other fish from eating and its general happiness.
anyone with experience with assessors and their behavior patterns? i'm just wondering if this is the beginning of something bad or is it simply them taking their time acclimating to the tank? they definitely seem to be getting more comfortable in the tank, even after 4 months in the tank. i'm guessing they take a long time to realize there are no predators in the tank (considered a cryptic fish?)...
