AI Hydra Settings Thread

Hello all, over my tank i have 6 hydra, 2 of em are hydra 52 and 4 are the regular one.

I control the light with a controller, not the director.

My settings: white 40 red 15 green 15 violet 40 uv 40 db 80 rb 80.

The tank is 576l (160cm long 60cm width and 60 cm deep)

I have mainly sps corals (montiporas and acros)

1 Any see any big flaws with my settings?
2 If i buy the director, can i control everything via my iphone? Or do i need to be able to have a real computer at my aquarium?

Really nice thread this :-)

Your setting sound about right. Also how deep is you tank and how hight do you have you lights. Where you using leds before, and if so which?

YES . Fortunately for you, you are using an iPhone. So all you do is get the app and BAM. I Unfortunately , use droid so no app for me yet. I just use my wife's phone all the time now. Shes not a happy camper

I have my leds 20cm above water and my aquarium is 60cm deep.

No i had a Giessman ramp before with 8*80w t5

Ah its so good, thanks alot for that info. No vacation this summer, more fun things for the reef :-)

Organic Redox Potential. it is how we read how clean the water is. the ability of the system to dissolve organics in the water. If I understand it correctly.

Yes and it is a good indicator that how much oxygen you have dissolved on the water.

As you post that your fish come back live in front of the pump. This looks to me that some time he had a lack of oxygen.

But if everything is fine. keep going.

I like to control everything I can so I can have rapid answers to some common problems I may have.

By the way, thanks guys for the kind comments on my tank.

I was on the phone with AI last night because I could not get my director to ask me to update. They told me that they have not released it to all of them yet and within the next few days I should receive the update. So if anyone else has this issue, hang tight.

I would put them at 30cm from the water and increse the power accordingly so you will have more coverage with the same PAR you have now.

Hello fildur, those setting might be a little strong for a 125 gallon (Google converter) especially with 2 hydras 52's. If you buy a director, yes you can control it from a iphone

Ok I'm sure this has been asked, but...

I've got a 40breeder (16" tall) sps tank, with 2 Hydras 13" AWL (as suggested by AI). I ran acclimate mode for the last few weeks. 50% for a week, 30% the next, then 10%. Do these sound like good percentages?

White: 30%
Violet: 25%
Red: 10%
Green: 10%
D-Blue: 100%
Royal: 100%
UV: 10%

Scheduled from 3pm-7pm, with a 3hr ramp up/down time.

Can you guys tell me anything about the fan? Is I supposed to run all the time? Mine doesn't seem to want to turn on. Is it only when it reaches a certain intensity? Had it at 100% and it isnt running it seems.

Please advise.

New setting, want to try a bit more white but only for a little bit. See if I get more growth. I have some corals turning all green that shouldnt. My scc is all green. Po4 is .04 No3 is 2ppm. Not really that bad. So im gessing I need more light. However I dont want to raise it so much.let me know what yall think.

The newer lights fan threshold seems to be higher than the earlier lights. I have one of each and my newer ones don't kick on unless they approach 120+ degrees.

Hi Mike, that sound a bit aggressive to me on a tank that is shallow. What lights are you coming from? I would start off with acclimation @ 50% over 4 to 6 weeks just to be safe. The lights may be more powerful than you think.

Can't help but to think that your green color is from not enough UV.

As far as growth you PO4 looks a bit high and from what i read it can slow growth down by 50% + in studies.

What is the room temp if it is cool or cold the fan may never come on.

You can test the fan by unplugging the light and plugging it back in. The fan should kick on when you first apply power for like 5-10 seconds.
