AI Hydra Settings Thread

Hey guys, let me chime in.... I'm still trying to figure these darn things out... I turned down my intensities, and my softies freekn love it.... I'm still having big issues with sps... Either browning, or bleaching... And I've actually had about 500$ worth die. I've had nothing but issues with the hydras as far as dialing in the light... Coming from 3 ecoxotic 36" pros, which I never had to mess with, I'm assuming my corals are use to a lower grade output, and with the hydras even running at 20%, still isn't low enough to match the ecoxotics. Something else I just noticed... Had a swap meet today, and I bought a orange digi, and a orange monti... Fun thing is, they were both under LEDs At the meet, but when I got home, the color in my tank was purple, not orange.... I even messed with all the colors, and could not replicate it...

how much do u turn down the settings when u put them in acclimation mode?

i am turning them down 20%, after a week or two, if everything is looking good with polyp extensions and colors i will reduce it to 10%. mind you i also have cloud chance at 20/20 which can give the corals a break as well.

i saw a monti starting to bleach also and i say bleach because i am sure that they are bleaching because i lowered the acro and in just 36 hours color is coming back. also i turned down the UV to 10% will keep an eye on the other corals to see if that is enough.

Are you using the auto acclimation?

How long did it take to get your corals acclimated to your settings?

i actually started from 45% on most of those settings with no acclimation on. every few weeks i would bump it 10%. so 8 weeks? my problem has been every time i lost my preset in the beta program i had to guess what i had. now at least its documented here..lol

Did you have LEDs before? are you using the Director?

dont understand how you could start with so much power and not have a problem. Maybe they came from a store with LED's.

1/2 my corals came from newbie aquarist here on RC, he is using MH and LED supplements, the more recent additions came from full LED shops

by the way, not sure if anyone else is doing this, but if you create another group by clicking a different color on one of the lights, you can copy paste one lights settings to the other, then by adjusting the times according to when your sun rises and sets you can have the lights ramp up from left to right, following the suns pattern.

Hi there. I'm new to this site and I've had a hydra over my 30 gallon cube For about 3 weeks.a I'm still messing around with the percentages. I thought I would try your settings but I dont know how to set so many different times for all the spectrums. I have the wireless remote. Any help would be great.

Hey sonic, i am very interested in using those settings. Did you program them with the director? Can I program them with just the wireless controller?
