AI Hydra Settings Thread

yeah the controller

I see they didnt implement the cloud issues that ive noticed and emailed about. Anyone else notice while using the wireless controller and in "cloud mode" when time elapses it doesnt finish the cloud sweep? It just stops, cuts any "cloud" overhead and returns to normal lighting.

Talk about defeating the purpose of "real world". Lol

...maybe someday...

Lunar

Your night intensities must be at least 5% - 10% for Lunar to work properly.

5% seems really bright. Anybody have success setting it lower then five?

5% is what you see during a full moon on a clear night with no clouds. As the moon phase changes nightly the % will decrease. It will also be lowered by any clouds. Finally during a New moon there will be 3-4 days of lights out.

fullborereefer i didnt not notice that happening i did not run it that long- one thing i did notice tho. when my clouds occured the fans would slow to turn off and then would never turn back on after no matter how hot they got- after i turned weather completely off the fans stopped working completely unless i unplugged the light from the source.

Suction.cups. lol.

They are on a wavemaker. Only half are on at a time. Around 1500 at each end and the.rest is constant from the return pump going through a tee along the back wall of the aquarium.

How do you like the nwb 150? I have been looking at that one to replace the pos I am using.

I like it a lot but I think it would be alot better if it had a bubble blaster pump the one it comes with is a little underpowered for my liking.

After asking AI about the Android app again, they replied differently then the standard coming soon, no ETA yet. "This is in the works as we speak and should be released anytime" so we will see what that means. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It sounds good.

I thought I would share my observations so far having run the hydra's for 30days.

#1 they are much more powerful than expected.
#2 most of us run these to high at first and see instant positive effects.
#3 after a week or two if not lowered we see negative effects like bleaching and browning.
#4 having red is a blessing and a curse - most of the time we start red to high creating algae on the sand.
#5 treat UV and Violet in the same % range.
#6 lowering or moving sps.

I have now lowered all spectrum's - dropping uv,violet to 30% - dropping rb and db to 70% - red to 15% and green to 25% (shortened red and green photo period to 4hrs)
white @ 40%. I am going to leave as is for 1 month with a 15% cloud@60% - I am hoping that my monti's,green dragon and millie will recover and lighten up my birds nest again. My acro's and pocillopora have been unaffected (good growth)

be watchful and react asap when seeing changes.

hope this helps.

Side note love the director - will even be better once they update.
these are great lights over all, well worth the $ IMO
