AI Hydra Settings Thread

Thanks for the info.I adjusted the times as per kaklangley's method, makes it easier than moving each point. Do the intensities need to be adjusted due to the depth of the tank, this may have been discussed earlier, easier to ask then wade through 174 pages that I have read for the most part. My tank is 30" deep and I am running 10 lights (52HD),I downloaded the 12" AWL profile, my lights are 13" AWL.

With 10 hydra 52hd I would run the 12" profile to start regardless of depth. Then after a few months if you feel more light is necessary use the 24" schedule to boost the overall intensity profile of the schedule. Hope this helps and jeeze what size is your tank!

These settings are for the hydra and prime HD lights and can be adapted to the original 52/26 and prime with a bit of tweaking. As for the original hydra I think you might be getting too far from these lights to make the same leap unfortunately. I would attempt to dig up original hydra threads to get an idea of what people have or did run.

Thanks. Do you know where I can find the original Hydra threads? Are they on this one? Can you help me find them?

Honestly I have no idea you would have to use the search function on Reef Central and R2R. They have to exist but the AI community in the past has been much less active in these setting threads then Radion and Kessil owners.

Thanks. What is clay-boa?

I just picked up a Red Sea Max e-170 with one of these awesome lights on it. I immediately grabbed and uploaded this lighting cycle. So far it looks amazing. I can't wait to get corals in my tank and see how they behave.

Please keep us updated on the progress with many pictures. Those red sea tanks a very nice!

I guess I am a little confused.I uploaded Orcus's schedule,I then adjusted my time according to what kaklangley said earlier it was about 6 odd hours difference.Unfortunately I was not home when they came on,but according to my Apex they were on at more or less the right time.So now to my confusion, when I looked at the AI app the time that I originally changed was now the same time as my phone,it is still that time now.The line on the graph for the light profile is the same time as the current time is that how it is supposed to be.Hope all that makes sense? I will have to see what time the lights go off.

The local time is auto correcting, I imagine it's because of the lights being an internet connected device. I may turn off the ability of remote access, wifi/ cloud connection and see if that will let the time remain at settings I select. Should still have control locally, when near light(s), but not when away from home/ tank. Otherwise it's a probably best to move them individually to be sure your start time is where you want.

Do you mean on the AI app?

I figured it out. I was setting up from my laptop. You have to hold the reset button down for about 7-8 seconds until the light flashes red then it will go back to flashing blue/green as if not ever set up before.

I have an exclamation point next to one of the child lights, does that mean I have lost communication wifi, and if so do I just reset it by the little button on the light.

I reccomend not setting the lights up as parents and children. The lights function so much better if you just make each light a parent. When I did try I had constant connectivity issues.

If you set them up as all parents do they all run off one schedule, where do I find the info to set them up like that?

You just set up each of your lights as a parent (if a light is currently set up as a child just hard reset it by holding the reset button) and upload the schedule to each light independently. If you look in the screen shots below each of my lights is set up independently but they all have the same schedule uploaded. Hope that helps! IMG_0650.jpgIMG_0651.jpg

If you want to change the time, say 11am instead of 8am, you can adjust your local/ personal time in the settings menu. This wouldn't change the photoperiod but will let you start the program earlier or later without moving each set point. If I set mine to 5:30am when it's actually 8:30am this would move the 8:30am program start time to 11:30.

Log in/ settings on the bottom right/ select date and time/ select time and adjust the hours or minutes as needed to delay the photoperiod without moving each individual set point

That helped out a ton. Way easier than trying to moving the settings up a few hours. Cheers!

Update on the time advance/ delaying. I reset the time earlier this morning for 3 hour delay, set to 5am when it was actually 8am and set time zone to pacific, the lighting time has remained 3 hours behind. I have only accessed the program/ app through Cloud rather than Local in the app menu. Don't know for sure if that is why the time was resetting, but I only want to change one thing at a time.

On a side note; it's probably easier to move each time point and not worry about time resetting!

Is the deep blue channel supposed to follow the rest of them or is it supposed to be flatlined above all the others? And go off later?

Changed my date and time to midway island/somoa island
So it's about 2hrs delay.. hopefully it doesn't reset.

Since you are using an original ai prime you have to go and manually match it to the royal blue channel on the light. The controller program is not smart enough to make the leap that the Blue channel on the HD lights is equivalent to the Deep Blue channel on the original prime :/
