AI Hydra

hahaha@ Sonicboom... There is a link in the beginning of this thread... I keep getting an error... There is apparently an app for that... I do have the remote... However!!! It would be cool to use a laptop.......

I will post a pic when the lights come on... I don't have bracing on my tank... I did start with 3.... I decided to add #4 last week....

Is someone can tell me what ....from the wall....mean!!
For example, on AI site it's write ....At a maximum of 135 watts from the wall, it follows in the family's efficient footsteps.
What that mean?
Thanks

I did make it myself. You basically design what you want the unit to look like and order a rail and connectors. You'll then have to cut the rail to the correct lengths for your design, this can be done easily with a miter saw. Everything is attached together with special connectors and an Allen wrench.

Installation:
The 80/20 pieces have slots down the sides in which can fit a panhead screw(see attached). All I did was find a stud in the wall and screw two screws into the wall about 4" apart(you'll want to leave about 1/8 inch sticking out of the wall) and slid the mount down on top of them. I believe I used a #12 screw so the head was big enough to hold. The screw at the top should be approximately where you want the piece that extends over the tank to go.

If you wanted to tank mount the unit I'm sure you could; you would either have to build a hang on bracket or have something sturdy to screw into. 80/20 makes a lot of pieces and connectors that fit together so it's really up to your ingenuity.

Did you use the bolts that come with the hydra to attach it to the 80 20 rail?

I don't recall any bolts coming with the unit. I took the Hydra to my local hardware store and found bolts that would screw into it and had a pan head that fit the 80/20 slot.

Through trial and error I cut the bolt to length with a dremel so that there was no play between the rail and fins on the light. As a safety precaution I also used some loctite blue on the threads to prevent any vibrations from loosening bolts.
