aiptasia problem...major

I have a major aiptasia outbreak and am looking for a fish that will help eat them. I have a 120 gal tank and would be able to catch him/her after the job is done.

Right now i have a harliquen shrimp, some acans, chalices, zoas, no SPS. I could proably pull all the acans out if needed.

Not sure if there is anything that will help take these out but not kill all of my coral (theres alot :facepalm: )

aiptasia-x is the PRIMARY one you will read that many use

I had about 8 peppermint shrimp,, I think two of them ate the aiptasia Peppermint shrimp you will read are not always consistent. You could buy 10 and none would eat them then buy 2 more and both would

Peppermint shrimp are decent CUC also,, generally not harmful to any reef corals etc. The good thing is you can get them cheap often and they are not difficult to trap and give away if you don't like them. they are fun to watch also.

Me I consider a few Peppermint shrimp my defense against them rather than a treatment once they have a foothold. If it was me, and this has not happened YET to me, I will go with aiptasia-x to get rid of them if they ever got out of control.
 
I use aiptasia-x with lots of success. I do weekly water changes and make scouting for aiptasia and killing it as part of my cleaning ritual.
 
I have hundreds ALOT......

i have wrasses so the peppermints our out.....

I could go nudibranches but for the 120 i would need like 120 way to $$$$$

Thats why i was thinking a fish possibly....
 
+1 on the aptasia-X. A Majano wand is fun! Kalk-paste works too, just have to be careful with it. Even a copper band is hit or miss. If you do get a copper band, here's a hint. Feed the aptasia the same food you feed the fish. The fish will go after the food in the aptasia, get the taste of it when going after the food, chew a little bit of it and go, "hmm...this taste good" and then start eating the aptasia. I heard it on a podcast that was describing how someone who raises copper bands gets them to start eating the aptasia.

I just got rod of a major outbreak using boiling hot water then aptasia x. Worked great and cheaper than just using X.
 
Just to answer your question, if you have a major Aiptasia problem and those frags have been healing for months in the same tank chances are Aiptasia will be on them too. Maybe just not noticeable now.
 
aptaisia x works but save the money. Make a thick liquid out of kalkwasser and RO water and inject the same way. Works just as well. Turn all pumps off.

hahaha I can guarantee you there is no aiptasia on them......

I wasnt aware thats how it worked, if i have aiptasia in my main display than it must be over all my segregated frag tank?? :beer:

and aiptasia is noticeable.....

Thats what i was doing it just takes a long time. I have been doing it every week or two. Using the Kalk than doing a nice little water change after. I guess i just need to be patient lol
 
I had at least 300+ aptasia , pretty much done everything to eradicate the pests, medications, fish, shrimp even boiled the rocks, nothing came close.

Until the Majano Wand came in. =) I watched it once on youtube by Mike Paletta.

I have used on in the past a local fish store was loaning them out. I might have to invest in one.

do you know how much they are off hand?
