aiptasia win round 2,000,000,000, what options now?

I have tried all the chemical concoctions and pastes. With my lack of time recently to always be injecting them growth has exploded. I tried peppermint shrimp but they either get eaten by fish or my mp40.

My 90 is stocked with
A large 7 inch hippo tang, large sixline, large o.clown pair , large bartletts anthias. All fish have been together for years clowns around 6-7, tang 6, sixline 6, anthias 4. So they have been a peaceful community for quite sometime.

I was thinking of adding a Copper band butterfly. What are your thoughts about this? I would be glad to have that fish in my tank if the others accept him, even after the aip's are gone. I do have a few BTA's, sps, clam, and zoas, no lps now. Any other suggestions besides tear down. Any one local have the aiptasia eating nudi's?

I know your problem: feedings.

You have to feed those particular fishes you have rather heavily EVERY DAY.
Anthias are an Aiptasia's best friend.

A Copperband Butterflyfish isn't going to rid your aquarium of Aiptasia.
I doubt the nudis will either, but it's worth a shot.
Maybe just don't tell anybody they're something you don't want in the aquarium?

lol I start twitching when people say "hey those are cool".

Tank feels pretty well stocked, but they have all been on a heavy spectrum pellet diet for years. Even the anthias. IMO Helps keep nitrates and over feeding down in my smallish-med tank. The anthias is my newest fish at like 3-4 years ago. Even he after seeing the other fish for a few days jumped right on the spectrum diet.

not the point though i don't wantthe CBB to eat spectrum at first . I want him to eat aiptasia. I have a ton so they will def be in the CBB face all day. If you say no that they wont help i believe your opinion. Even if he kept the population down would be a start.

I think i know deep down the only way is a rock nuking.

okay... I'm gonna change my recommendation because (lucky you!) you're feeding your fishes spectrum pellet.

I would try a Copperband. Reason: CBB's don't take Spectrum pellet readily so it's gonna be looking for food.

This isn't a sure fire solution, mind you... but because you feed Spectrum pellet I think you have a shot at a CBB being at least a PARTIAL solution to soo many Aiptasia.

I'd like to hear the results. It's gonna take some time...

You could try a Kliens Butterfly. The only problem with them is it's a 50/50 shot wether they will pick at your corals or not. If you get one that likes aptasia it will keep them under wraps.

Klein's will take Spectrum. I like CBB here much better.

I've always had really good luck with file fish. I've had 2 and never had an issue with them picking at coral once the problem was under control.

I believe the tile fish is extremely dosile and would be blown around by the mp40 or bullied. I did find a few today so it is an option.

Any difference between the Aussie and other regions when it come to purchasing the cbb?

I believe all the reef stores usualy have the "right kind" of CBB. Research what to look for in one.
