Air, Water, and Ice RO/DI -- Reviews?

dismayed

I'm considering making my own salt water and have been looking into a few options.

I was wondering if anyone here uses the Air, Water and Ice (airwaterice.com) Typhoon III, and if so if you would recommend it? I did some searching of the forums and found mention of its use here and there but couldn't seem to find a definitive "this thing rocks!" or "save your money."

Another unit I have been considering is the Kent Marine MAX Hi-S as well as the Kent Marine Maxxima RO/DI.

Any thoughts or other suggestions would be appreciated. I'm leaning towards the Air Water and Ice.

Thanks!!!

i have an older dual home/reef model and it has done exactly what it is supposed to for several years. i have no complaints with them.

I've heard nothing but good stuff about them for quality and customer service. BuckeyeFieldSupply.com is also top notch - Russ gives great customer service.

That is the exact unit I bought from them and have been extremely happy with the unit as well as their customer support.

I always that unit from that company whenever a RO/DI discussion comes up.

I personally don't care for the selection of prefilters that come with the Typhoon III.
10 micron sediment -- I prefer 1 micron
5 micron carbon block - I prefer .6 Matrikx +1 chlorine guzzler
1 micron carbon block - I would rather have a 2nd DI vs 2nd carbon block
Membrane -- Dow filmtec 75 GPD is good and very common with reef units
DI -- refillable cartridge is good which will lower DI replacement cost and is available from most RO/DI units for reef.

For the money I would do a little more comparison with bulkreefsupply.com and buckeyefieldsupply.com. The very best is Spectrapure MaxCap but pricey for start up cost however it will pay for itself in the long run though.

This discussion probably should take place in the Equipment forum so more can benefit from it.

Not much about Reef Chemistry here. :)
