airline frustration 9420

I bought a Tunze 9420 new style for my I-Tech 200 skimmer a couple of months ago. I notice that the airline was twisted where the tube connects to the venturi, I also noticed that the air line goes on difficult and comes off way to easy I also tried to use cable ties and that did not help. Seems like a design flaw not having a barbed fitting, cheaper air line tubing. I noticed in another post someone showing the difference between the old style tubing and the new style which would kink. Looking for solutions Thanks in advance

I would disagree about the airline being cheap, that size and type of silicon airline is well over $1.00 a ft, it is pretty much the best there is and the wide diameter is necessary for maximum airflow. The thread you are referring to is for the 9011 and the airline was simply too long. It is hard to install but will not easily come off, you will need to remove the airline from the nipple and reinstall it rotated in the right direction so it does not kink, one tip that can help is to smear a thin film of glycerin on the nipple, but be careful not to get it on the tubing or your fingers or your grip will slip and you just want it to ease sliding it on, once on all the way, it is very hard to remove. It is not easy, but this is something you only have to do once.

Thanks Roger I paid more attention to what I was doing and I made sure that I placed the tubing in the right direction that way there was not any twisting, I also used a larger cable tie, everything works better there is no restriction my skimmer has done more in one day than in the past week. thanks again
