Airport Extreme and Apex - can access from Web but not on LAN?

This is probably something really simple that I am just missing, but it is making me nuts.

I've had my Airport Extreme for about 3 weeks and had everything set up with my Apex working perfectly. I use DynDNS and run the updater program on my laptop and it has been working great.

About 4 days ago, I tried to access my Apex from my laptop on the LAN and I couldn't do it. Checked the iPhone and I can still access and control the Apex. Rebooted the laptop - nothing. Rebooted the wireless adapter - nothing. Rebooted the Apex - nothing. Still can access from the iPhone, but can't connect via the LAN. Checked all the setting on the router - nothing has changed since I set it up.

Any ideas?

From iPhone I use DynDNS address.
From the LAN, I have tried the IP address, the host name, etc. - all the ways I have been able to access it previously.

Is the wireless adapter perhaps connecting to the Airport' guest wireless SSID? If so, it must connect to the regular non-guest wireless.

I don't have a guest network set up. That feature is turned off.

The bizarre thing is that every single setting on the router looks to be exactly how it was set up when it was working properly. And since I can reach the Apex from the Internet, the adapter is communicating with the router.

Likewise, my connection to the Internet from my laptop is fine as well - thus I can post my questions here.

And my devices such as iPad and iPhone are connecting to the wireless LAN with no issues.

Which leads me to the question - could there be something going on with my laptop's setting that would prevent the connection to the adapter?

Laptop is an HP running Windows Vista. Adapter is a Netgear WNCE2001. Router is the Airport Extreme using version 5.5.3 of the Airport Utility.

"could there be something going on with my laptop's setting that would prevent the connection to the adapter"

The above statement sparked a thought - Are you trying the IP address of the Apex itself, or that of the wireless adapter? You should be using the IP address of the Apex.

I have always used the 10.0.1.97 address assigned to the Apex.
I just can't find anything that has changed in any of these settings.

I have a similar issue. I did solve it. When connected to the wifi I use the internal address like 192.168.5.205. When away from home use the dyndns. It was a quick fix and I have not taken the time to fix it properly. With the iphone app I setup two different controler profiles and only one will connect at any time depending on where I am.

I hadn't really thought about it, but I can connect with my iPhone whether in the house on the LAN or via 3G when away from the LAN. Now THAT really baffles me. Everything is working exactly as it should EXCEPT I can't connect to the Apex from the laptop via my wireless LAN.

Definitely confusing. It makes no sense that the iPhone can connect but the laptop can't.

Out of curiosity have you tried specifying the port on the http request (ie http://10.0.1.97:80)?

Additionally, if you do a traceroute where does the connection die? Paste the results? (tracert 10.0.1.97 in windows, traceroute 10.0.1.97 on a mac).

UGH!! I still don't know what caused the change, but I can access the Apex from my laptop using http://10.0.1.97:9997, which is the assigned port. I didn't have to specify before.
Oh well - at least I can get to it now.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions!
