Airwaterice RO/DI Round Two - Help !

They shipped me a second top deck and it arrived today (the first one was not constructed right).

I ran the Fast Flush and DI bypass open for about 1/2 hr and then I ran RO Only for over an hour. My TDS readings are:

tap water: 183 ppm
RO Output: 183 ppm
DI Output: 5 ppm

Arrgghh ! Isn't it supposed to be lower out of the RO by now? Or should I expect to run it longer before the TDS comes down?

are you putting all the RO water in the same bucket? is it a new clean bucket? your suppose to throw the first like 20 gallons of water away.....as thats the water that flushes the membranes.

I took a reading of some water from HyVee and got a TDS of 005. Also the DI output reads about the same, 005.

I've probably run 40 gal through it now. The waste water and RO water read the same, 183, the tap water is actually a bit lower about 170.

Water is flowing out of the RO unit like crazy. It only took 50 sec to fill a 2L container so thats 36 gph = hundreds of gallons per day! Its a 75 gpd unit. What is up with that?

The waste water output is far lower rate than the RO water output.

Do you have a pressure indicator on your system? If you are running the water at too high of pressure or the temp is above 75 degrees your TDS will be high.

I'm new to RO/DI but it seems like that has to be the case, right? I checked the plumbing against the diagram (it came pre-assembled) and everything looks right.

Since I still have the first unit I'm thinking I should try switching out the membrane in that one.

:)

:)

The membrane outputs are switched. Please call me and I will show you how to fix it.

By the way any RO related questions you have in the future can be directed to the Purely H2O sponsor Forum.

We will be happy to help you.
Even if you dont have our system ;)

Bryan,

Thanks again for the help. I really didn't expect there'd be no RO membrane in the RO unit !

Glad I still had the other broken unit to get the membrane out of.

Its finally working!

i have to admit Bryan is a great person to deal with i had called him earlier to ask questions about my purelyh2o system and he was great to talk to.

glad you figured out the prob. though,

Well..

Well..

It was a good thing we went through the whole thing too because otherwise you would have put in a membrane and it still wouldnt have worked. Funny thing is that the way it was configured it would have just froze up:confused:

Oh well your all good now
