AJ_Tsin's 47g Shallow Rimless Rebuild

The new additions are awesome aj:)
You have some jems in there!
Thanks for sharing!

No Problem, I am pretty proud of my ability to track down these high end frags, going to be worth it when it all grows out.

I have one or two more additions in the SPS realm that I plan on doing soon, then plan is to focus on continued stability, further automation with the APEX and of course plumbing in a small frag Tank.

Beautiful tank those colors are some of the best I've seen. What's your current bulb combo it looks really good! Great job

Wow thanks. Bulb combo at the moment is 2x Coral+ 1x Purple + and 5 Blue+

However I am not happy with it right now. As soon as I get a chance I will be swapping out a Coral + and a Blue + and adding 2x Actinic

In meantime here's another photo dump:

How is growth doing for you? Everything looks fantastic, definitely subscribed. T5 seem to be working great, is it too white for you with your current bulb combo?

Great looking set up and display Adrian. Looking forward to your progress.
Thanks.

Thanks. Growth is pretty good frags are still small so they are mainly encrusting but very quickly, considering the tank is filled with super rare notoriously slow growers.

I am actually unhappy with the bulb combo at the moment definitely too white/red and making everything look more pinky brown then it is. Planning on changing it up not sure yet to what.

Agreed, they are awesome tanks for reefs. I can't wait to get my new shallow wet:dance:.

I will stay tuned.

I tried to take some images to show off a bit of the depth of the rock work and coral contrast.

IMO one of the biggest challenges yet most effective way to create an aesthetically pleasing reef is to use coral colors to contrast each other and add depth. Placing complimentary colors behind one another or placing a coral with an accent color next to one with the opposite accent colors etc. can do an insane amount to create a scape with depth, interest points and a pallet of colors for your eyes to travel across. This is almost equally important as a creative or minimalist aquascape.

Well the tank sure looks amazing man, I envy it. I'm currently trying to decide which bulbs to run along side a 250w radium on m80 ballast currently.

Keep up the good work!

The tank looks amazing! Im sure with all those name brand coral the tank will show mad depth and interest points! Awesome work.

Cheers, Blue+ are my favorite, but I don't have any Actinics so hard to say. All the ATI bulbs are pretty awesome although the Aquablue special is very ugly IMO.

Thanks. That's what I am hoping plan from the start was to make this build as ballin as I can, and as I already had the majority of equipment on hand I could drop more $$ on high end corals.

that wolverine is sick .....

Yea although there are some other very, colorful corals in here and elsewhere Wolverine is the most bad *** of them all, really unique and cool coral.

Just wanted to say I love your tank man. Has inspired me a lot for my new set up :)

Thanks really good to hear. Link me the build thread if you have one yet, I would love to see it. Although I like to show off corals and post lots of pictures the main reason I keep these threads to hopefully help people or inspire them, so this means a lot. Cheers.

Hey AJ, the pics really show the depth your getting with the rock and corals:thumbsup:.
What turnover rate do you have in there? My new build will have a 60x turnover if I have my return pump on max, but I think it will be more around 50x or so, it does sound like alot but a few mates on here have 45-100x turnover on their reefs and they say it works well for them.

Corals are looking great AJ, tank seems to be coming along well. keep up the great work. P.S. can you ship me some of that Canadien Acro water? Seems to be a lot of great stick tanks up there in Canada.

I'm just happy that I can make a one stop shop for all of my favourite SPS frag in the near future!

Keep up the good work!

Can you post your old reef compared to the new one?
