Algae around my clams

Hi all,

I have 3 clams that I sit in the sand on a buried rock and a half shell. 2 of them get some kind on pinkish algae that grows around them. Will this hurt the clams at all? I have removed the clams and scraped it off a few times but not sure if it is really necessary.

Here is a pic:

My halids were already off.

Thanks

I don't have an answer for you, but I have never seen that much algae growing on a clam shell. My intution tells me it might be a problem especially if it were to block light.

PH 8.0
Ca 425
Alk 2.5 meg/l
PO4 (tank water) 0
Nitrite 0

All tests are AP except for Ca and Alk which are Salifert. I will test for Mg and Nitrate in a bit. I had to leave earlier.

Here are the pics with lights.
