Algae bloom

Hi all,I've just had an overnight explosion of green algae growth.i wiped with cleaner magnet scrubber and tank is very misty with it.is this to be expected at end of the cycling period?,do I need to do anything?i have lights on in sump and dt and skimmer has been on for a few days.please advise

Algae and bacteria blooms are a part of the start-up of a tank. Kill the lights, leave the skimmer on, and wait it out is the best you can do at the moment.

Well it's the same stuff,but it's not as bad,,,,,,,yet.so what do I need to to,if anything?

the only way I could get rid of that ^^^ green was with a UV. I changed 99% of the water and it was back again the next day. Did that several times. Killing the lights for days didn't help either.

Seriously, if it looks like that above, the only thing that worked was I got a little UV. Here is the daily progress after installing the UV:

An algae scrubber would be used to pull nitrates from the system. It doesn't actually 'scrub' it of algae... As this is a new system, there's no reason for you to have a high nitrate issue.
