Algae Identification

I bought a new light, Hydra 52, went from some cheap fluorescent bulbs. At the same time added two new frags from the same vendor.

A couple weeks later I got some algae growth but doesn't look like hair algae as it is leafy not hairy, and it is only growing on the two frags, no where else in the tank.

My question is does anyone recognize this and does anyway think it is related to the frags I just added?

My phosphates have been high due to laziness of changing my GFO and carbon. It is just odd to me that it is only growing only on those two frags.

Thanks in advance

Yes it more than likely came in on the frags if thats what you are showing a picture of..

Probably just ulva or dictoya or c.prolifera.. Hard to tell from the pic..
The picture is out of focus and do us a favor and turn down the blues next time..

Sorry about the blues. Is best way to control manual removal and getting nutrients down?

Thanks for the identification. Haven't had an algae problem in literally 3/4 of a year besides coralline.

Better pic, maybe.

yep manual removal/get nutrients (phosphates and nitrates) down..
got a tang or other algae eater? they should be all over that..

and the details of the algae are still tough to see but what a difference in the colors... see how much better that looks without the blues messing up the camera..

looks like bubble algae on that back frag rack too?

I would just clean the plugs with a wire brush and then smother any algae that's near the edges of the coral with some epoxy. Given time those corals will grow right over the epoxy and you'll never even know it was there. Make sure to do this in a separate container of water though.

I have a starry blenny that I thought was suppose to eat algae and he eats like a pig but never algae The reason I got him 3/4 year ago but he never did a thing, he just cool looking

Thanks everyone! Going to pull frag rack and vinegar bath it and scrub it, change GFO (been about 8 weeks), scrap the algae off plugs, and slow down feeding.

Again thanks everyone, I appreciate your advise and time!
