Algae importer of nutrients carries on with out pigments.

The racemosa I use has some weird habits, the main one, out side of being an amazing nutrient importer, is that it lives on and flourishes after it drops its colour/pigments.
This is the second time I have seen it doing this in quite a large area still with light and non of it dies off at all, I just trim it and its all good.
This means it should starve to death, they need pigments in general and the cyano with in its chloroplast to carry out photosynthesis?

How the hell this algae lives and grows like this is beyond me!
