Algae on rocks

Have some green algae on rock. Not hairy or anything. I have about 25 hermit crabs and 15-20 snails along with a lawnmower blenny and tang. Can't seem to get it to go away.

I'm slowly getting past that stage too. 5 months in and the algae got darker. Bright side is some of the rocks are turning purple due to coraline algae.

You could scrub your rocks with a stiff (clean) brush, followed by a net to capture and remove it. A 3-4 day blackout will help too. This why its a good idea to wait on corals six months or so. You get through the cycle and any algae phase first, then as the tank settles down and becomes more stable, corals are added.

I've heard some folks have had success physically putting snails and/or hermit crabs right on the algae. Also 3-4 days of no food could help. Your fish will be fine, assuming they are well nourished beforehand.
