It seems like i can't get rid of this brown film algae on my sand. I don't have my camera so can't take pictures but when i stir the top layer of sand where the algae is a black smoke appears???? Also in my sand from the front view you can see dark spots against my viewing window which look like h2s pockets. My tank is about two and half months old. Levels are:
Am: 0
No2: 0
No3: 0
Po4: 0

Any Suggestions?

Make sure you have a sufficient and diverse cleanup crew. What's your bioload like? What, how much, and how often do you feed?

Your params are ok because you have that bloom eating up residual nutrients. I suspect that when your LR really gets to jammin, you'll be ok.

I'm having the same problem. I think I'm going to start vacuuming the stuff out, with the affected sand, and then dry the sand before replacing it in the tank. (can you boil aragonite or will it turn to mush?)

I need to beef up my crew, i have small blue tang, juv emp angel pair of clowns and lawnmower blenny.. I feed twice a day. For cleanup crew i have roughly around 30 astarea snails 20 turbo snails 25 small nassarius snails, 3 cleaner shrimp and 1 peppermint shrimp.. I want to add two togan fighting counches for my sand bed and probably some more snails.
