algae

I noticed that two of my rocks are growing alot of bronze colored algae it looks like. Is that normal or can it harm my fish.

It could be diatoms or sargassum, or any number of other types. If it's a flat film then it's most likely diatoms. Get some pics up to help us figure it out.

Over the first year you will find that your tank evolves. First and foremost - research as much as you can about this hobby. Very few things require immediate action and more often than not no-action is the best action for the reef.

There are several places, including LFSs, that will set you up with a 'clean up' or 'janitor' crew (snails, crabs, sand sifting stars, etc) that will help to keep your new tank clean-er. Problem is the algae growth cycles in a new tank is not continuous to keep the initial 'crew' sustained.

My personal favorite - a turkey baster to blast the rocks occasionally of detritus, etc.
