im setting up a tank for a freind in their business and am hoping to get some suggestions on how to minimize the brown and green algea blooms that are typical of new tanks, since it will be in a business. any and all suggestions however mundane are welcome. thanks

keep you ca/alk levels up where they should be.this will help the coraline algae out compete the bad stuff. Dont overfeed.

thanks again to the good ideas, yea i didnt think of that the high calcium/alk will also keep the phosphates down.

I would put in a variety pack of reef janitors to keep the 'blooms' to a minimum. A mix of Nassirus (for the sand), Cerinth (for the glass) and hermit crabs (blue legg, red legg one legg two legg....) Even an Urchin (Carrier/Longspine) could be added for sand stirring but it will also consume some amount of Corraline Algae. The main thing is to put some critters in that are going to keep the sand shifted.
