I did not check cal, I keep my lights on for around 9 hours a day they are new bulbs and are 440 watts of vho. oh ya my sal. is 1.026. And I do not over feed only feed one cube of frozen Brine shrimp a night.Let me know what you think Scott

I would blame phosphates as well.

Unless you boiled all your live rock, you already had cyano in your tank. The bloom sounds like a mini cycle.

The phosphates are ok I had the LFS check everything also and they said not a problem with the phos.I use distilled water because I know my tap water is a problem with them. The tank has been up and running for over 2 years.Any more ideas would be helpfull. Because of right now the way it looks when I find new house and set up new tank I will not use any of this liverock and that would suck. Thanks Scott

it's not your rocks per se. Any rock you buy, any coral you buy is going to have cyano on it in some capacity. It's pervasive in marine environments if rarely blooming.

I would let the algae run it's course. What do you have in the way of grazers?

If your chem is ok, then you just have some algae growing. The best way to get rid of it is add something to eat it. My hermits love just the green fuzzy stuff.

I have always had bad luck with hermits.Everyone I have had has grabbed a fish or 2 at night and killed them.I have no hermits in there for that reason.I guess I am a chicken lol,For fish all I have in there is a yellow wrasse (I bought from mark),a gold striped maroon clown, and ( i know I will need to get rid of him) a small naso tang. For corals I have xenia, mushrooms, kenya tree, zoos, yellow leather, big yellow polyp and a buble coral and a bunch of snails, turbos and astrea Thanks Scott
