Well I neglected my tank for the last 2 days while being sick and my alk went from 7.7dkh to 6.2dkh. Reason is my ca rx feed pump got blocked and kept my ca rx from feeding the tank .

Anyways amazing enuff I have crazy PE on everything . More so than normal which is alot anyways. Even my most delicate pieces are showing tons of PE.

The biggest ? is why was my tank able to maintain? 6.2 is really low IMO especially with a moring ph of 7.70 .

Is it because my ca is @ 380 ? is it because my p04 is .01? or a combo?

I haven't had any stn or rtn that I can see . I would have figured that I would have lost some pieces or had some PO'd pieces. But none all are happy.

I have had my tank at 6.4 dkh for a while now without any problems other than latley I have noticed a slight decline in P-E.But no stn or rtn. So I have decided to bring it back up to 7.4 over the next couple days .

Yeah I am bringing mine back up to 7.7 dkh over the next few days . That is my normal stable point.

This has been very informative.

I was on a business trip and my wife took care of my tank for me. When I got back, my Alk went from 9 dKh before I left to ~6.5dKh when I returned a week later. I notice that my Montis have a lot less PE. Now, I know at least one reason.

I think you are very fortunate you didn't have RTN issues.

I normally run my Alk at 9-10 dkh. Went on vacation (10 days), had someone feed fish & add 2 part daily while I was gone. Alk dropped to 6 dkh while I was gone (?), and I had 5 or 6 Acro colonies RTN. Nothing like walking in the front door seeing solid white colonies. Never happened before, or since. Had to be the drop in Alk. (Have chiller, auto top off, etc)

Maybe you didn't have problems because you normally keep your Alk lower (7.7) than I do and it wasn't as much a drastic drop as I had.

I highly doubt it was the alk drop that caused the RTN. Dropping slow over a period of 10 days isnt going to hurt anything, especially if it only drops to 6. 6 is not THAT low. Normal is between 7-8. Many people run thier tanks close to 7.0 at perfect health, so I highly doubt only 1 dkh is going to be the difference between health and RTN. It would have to shift very quickly to have major problems IMO.
