Is it normal to have to dose a 300 gallon softie tank with 7 tsp of alk every day to maintain 9dkh? When I dose 7 tsp the level goes up 2 dkh. The tank seems to drop between 1 and 2 dkh per day. Is this out of line at all? Just seems like a lot of baking soda. I also add 7 tsp of calcium every other day.

What is your mag level? My alk and calcium would swing wildly until I got magnesium in check

Yeah I guess I should check that.....I never test Mag. I will buy a kit today and post the results.

Yes Mg should approximate 1350 which is NSW

Well the store did not have a mag test kit.....I am using Salinity by Seachem so I hope the levels are good. I will get a kit and test it soon. Until then I will keep dosing as usuall..
