Well all of my fish hve died in qt now!!! The ich finally got them. In July im going to restock so im going to buy some fish to put in qt now. What should I get? I have one coral banded shrimp zoos kenya tree xenia sun coral maze brain shrooms yellow polyps monti orange likia pink fromia crocea clam green paly snails and hermits in there now. I was thinking 2 ocellaris some green chromis engineer goby. What else and/or something different? thanks

my angler a blue damsel and octopus are doing good in my other tanks

Those sound like decent choices. One thing to watch from the engr goby is that they will eventually cover anything on the sand. Mine has been excavating for days now and keeps dropping copious amounts of sand on everything. Every once in a while, somethign drops as if into a sinkhole... Gentle giant, though, otherwise. Maybe some smaller gobies, since you have a smaller tank. They can get lost in a large tank (but I guess that adds the fun of hunting them down). Watchmen types with pistol shrimp counterparts are really interesting to watch. Jenn has a Yasha Hase and Alpheus pistol in the 20L and there is almost constant amusement. They sometimes decide to burrow in areas you can't see, though.

Well, you're a 58. That's pretty close to what I have in size.
I take it you're live rock and sand.
I'd advise against a wet/dry. Many can be converted to a sump. My reasoning is that the wet/drys can easily dump nitrate back into your system as well as take it out: live rock and sand don't do that. That means the system has fewer nitrate moments, which means the fish get less irritation and the corals do well. Irritated skin is no help if there's been ich around. You might query about that wet-dry item in the equipment forum, and I know you'll get some discussion there.

On the fish matter, however: you've just had a nasty experience with ich and qt. First of all, and I know you must be pretty experienced at this: but scrub that qt tank. I'm not quite sure white vinegar will do it, but it would be a start. You can also use weak Chlorox and rinse in fresh water until the chlorine smell is totally gone. That's sure to get any living tissue, including ich.

I have two cautions in your fish list: one, ocellaris are a little ich prone themselves. But if you want clowns, that's a good one. Second, Engineer gobies I believe get some size on them when they grow up, and they can move rock. But they're neat creatures.

One thing you might consider is a tank with mostly blennies, gobies and dartfish, which are about the most ich-resistent lot you can come up with. They won't go in with the angler or octopus, however. ;) Lunch.

Is that your angler, the avatar? That's one neat fish.

yeah engineer was one that died... he was great and i never had a problem he was about 7 inches guess i will have to get a small one again ever kept more than one engineer together?

The guy I got mine from had two of roughly equal length together.

I had 2 for over a year in a 29, no problems....other than the shifting of the sand, which is why I traded them.

I had a very large pair once and they did fine. I think I had a male female pair from the way they acted but I am not sure. Mine never really made too big of a mess.
