I took down my tanks a year or so ago due to remodelibg I will be done shortly and want to setup again but eliminate some of the problems I've gad in the past.

I have a couple of requirement the main one I'm limited to 46" height including canopy. And that I do not want any conventional hob equipment.

I'm pretty well limited to what I can do I believe an all in one tank to be the best and I really like the simplicity of it.

I have an empty 125 gallon regular 72x18x22 aquarium. I'm completely ok sacrificing internal real estate I'm just can't see how to make a end of the tank look good with having an 8 in section blocked off and set up like a biocube overflow. It will be in a corner though so it would not be that weird and would provide very easy access to equipment.

My other option I see would be to build my own version of a reefsaver ghost over flow but instead of using the external box as they have I would use it to run a narrow sump like a biocube but just on the outside back of the tank. It just would not allow good access to equipment.

The diy part of both I'm very comfortable with I just need ideas on which may be best or really anything I haven't thought of .

The equipment I was getting was a

Tunze doc 9012 skimmer
ati 4x80watt t-5 - minimal sps and LPS mainly soft corals.
vortex mp40w
reef keeper lite
dannermag 9.5 pump
haven't decided on heater.

Due to equipment size the inside sump would have to be 8 in front to back, for the ghost sump it would only need to be 6" front to back.

Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated

Personally, I would just go with the Tunze DOC 9012 directly in the tank itself and have the rest of the equipment off to one end. Paint the back and that end of the tank black to match the equipment and hide it all in plain sight. With a 60" light suspended off center, you would get shadows on that end of the tank which would help hide the skimmer, a couple heaters and a powerhead or two.

I like this all in one idea. If you wanted to get really fancy you could attach rock to the skimmer and such and hide them that way. just make it still removable, maybe some macro algae around it and a safe tunnel for the intake.

I think I'll test the ghost overflow modification idea on a filter system for my turtles new tank a 90gal. I'll just have to try to find a way to get waste from the bottom
